Our dynamic jazz duo Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams reunited last weekend to play at the 22nd Annual Jazz in the Pines festival in Casey’s hometown of Idyllwild, California.

The youthful Reinhart elevated the set from a fun reunion of friends to something very special with original material, the torch song, “Hey Baby, Ain’t I Good To You” and some beautiful harmonies with Casey. Their set was promoted as a showcase of a new type of jazz in which Casey and Haley would re-arrange contemporary pop hits in a ’20s and ’30s style, but they only did that on Meghan Treynor’s “All About That Bass,” which has an old-timey feel anyway. I’d love to see more of that since their version of that song was infectious.

The estimated crowd size was around 3,000 people.  One lucky fan got to keep their setlist, which included songs such as “Never Knew What Love Could Do”, “Stuck in London”, “With a Little Help from My Friends”, “You Were There”, “Moanin'”, “My Cake”, “Better”, “Creep”, “Stacy’s Mom”, “Can’t Find My Way Home”, and many more!

Here is a clip of “My Cake” being performed on Sunday, courtesy of Julie Pendray on YouTube:

While at the event, Haley spoke with specialsnotonthemenu.com, and talked a little bit about her upcoming EP! Watch below:

After the show, Casey posted: “Thanks and every person who was a part of the day and GingerBread Band

Haley Reinhart’s “Seven Nation Army” Cover Creates Some Buzz

In case you missed it, Postmodern Jukebox released their latest Haley Reinhart feature last Thursday of The White Stripes’ rock classic “Seven Nation Army”.

The video has been getting lots of buzz all over the internet. It was the top trending topic on Facebook for a day. The total view count in just 5 days is already well over 600,000.

The song itself reached #1 on the iTunes jazz charts. Not to mention the fact 4 other Postmodern Jukebox songs featuring Haley were in the top 10 as well.

Haley Reinhart & Casey Abrams Set to Play Main Stage at Jazz in the Pines

Photo via idyllwildjazz.com

Musical soulmates Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams will be reuniting in Casey’s hometown of Idyllwild, California to play at a local jazz festival “Jazz in the Pines” on Sunday, August 16th 2015.

“Likewise Casey Abrams, who is a real rising star, and Haley Reinhart, his compatriot, who are part of this collective post-modern jukebox. They are a group of young musicians, 20-somethings, who have stumbled upon this really interesting style wherein they take popular music — music by Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Meghan Trainor — and rearrange it. They re-appropriate it into 1920s and ’30s swing, and they are just blowing up on the Internet. They are really ushering in what I would say is a new generation of jazz enthusiasts — young people who are really into it. So we’re necessarily trying to bridge that generation gap. This is something I would suggest is the direction of the festival.”

Haley and Casey are set to play the main stage from 4:15pm-5:30pm!

Listen to Haley Reinhart’s New PMJ Cover Before The Video is Released

Postmodern Jukebox just released their latest album “Swipe Right For Vintage”, which is a collection of all their latest YouTube covers. Every now and then when they release an album, it features a cover they haven’t posted to their YouTube channel yet.

Luckily for us, Scott Bradlee decided to put the new song on the album regardless. Haley’s “Oops!… I Did It Again” video just came out 3 weeks ago. It’s probably a little too soon to upload her next cover which explains why we’re getting the song earlier than the video release.

So…what song is it you ask? Haley’s new cover is “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, and it’s already the most popular song off the album, currently #6 on the Jazz charts. Scott Bradlee and Haley did it again! Their jazz rendition of this once highly popular rock hit is absolutely brilliant!

Buy the song on iTunes here!

Be sure to check out the rest of the album, Haley’s “Lovefool” and “Oops!… I Did It Again” covers are on it as well.

As for the video, I’m sure it will be out within the coming weeks which should give the already popular cover a major boost!

Haley Reinhart Plays the Troubadour

And she played it well.

HaiiS2Mz

Haley Reinhart opened up for The Rigs this past Thursday night at the legendary Troubadour in Hollywood, California. It was Haley’s first time at the venue, and she definitely made her mark on that stage.

As of late, most of Haley’s local L.A. shows have been small acoustic sets. This time, she brought a full band, and everything was bigger and better! Dressed in all black, Haley took the stage along with her many band mates in front of the sold out crowd.

They opened the show with Haley’s soon-to-be released first single off the EP, “Better”:

Second song from her setlist was “Good or Bad”, which Haley introduced to us acoustically at Room 5 back in April:

Special guest Casey Abrams was then brought to the stage to perform the first song they wrote together,”You Were There”:

The second special guest of the night was Scott Bradlee, from Postmodern Jukebox. There to play piano for “Creep”:

To pay tribute to Amy Winehouse on the anniversary of her death, Haley then jazzed it up with “Gee Baby, Ain’t I Good To You:”

Another song confirmed to be on the upcoming EP, her ballad “Love is Worth Fighting For”:

Last but not least, Haley and the band got funky and gave us the best performance to date of “My Cake”:

Haley has really blossomed over the last few years, her stage presence was stellar, and she performed as confident as ever. Can’t wait to see what else is in store.
